We would like to use the Hope on Wheels Hyundai Scholar Grant Award to start a Quality & Safety Initiative to measure and manage symptoms experienced by our pediatric cancer patients, and improve safety of chemotherapy administration. Measuring and documenting the symptoms of pediatric oncology patients may provide valuable insight and information that could help children’s hospitals nationwide set quality and safety improvement initiatives for treatment-related symptoms. Using the Hyundai Scholar Grant Award, we would pilot practices applied in adult quality and safety cancer care to our pediatric oncology population. The goal for this initiative would be to improve the quality of childhood cancer care, and safety, and ultimately, their outcome.
